Gates Of Decay
This song has been killling me. It has all the usuall crap, plus a radiator feature and a slightly more complex bridge than other pieces. Is this song any fucking good?
Dear Mr. Fantasty Steve Winwood
This is the newest addition. I'm very excited about how this came out. It's the Traffic song, and on vocals it features Victoria (I think) from OS 9's MacInTalk, plus the MacInTalk singers. Are people having a hard time understanding these vocals? The rest of the track is the most minimal yet: cell phone ring tone, several layers of Crumar, 3 Guitars play what I vaguely recall as the riff of the song, and I used drum samples from Mr. Tom Pulce's collection. Never mind some pops and clicks in the synth tracks, I'll fix those soon.
Update:March19:AlternateMp3-DearMrFantasy2.mp3
This update is to see if people have an easier time understanding the words with this vocal treatment. Please listen to the other version first! Thanks.
Cauterize The Knife Song
Features AM radio performance. Rhythm track was made using a knife, and a fork dropping in a metal bowl on a cutting board.
Grim Work The Tsunami Song
Has cool sandpaper moments, inhaler on cat litter box, and phone ringing sounds.
Time Of Dying Blind Willie Johnson
Features the hammers from 94 Bragdon street. I ripped them right out of the loop piece Sunday Building Sounds which wasn't that well listened to. Also features saw and General Electric organ. I know it from Bob Dylan's version on his first record, but Led Zeppelin also recorded it and claimed they wrote it. I made up the lyrics I didn't understand from Dylan's singing. I feel ambivalent about this song. The timing doesn't hold together that well, and then there is my voice to deal with. I'm hoping to get Karyn's voice on it soon...
Update:February26:New Mp3
Cut out a section of repeats in the second verse and added three more ebow tracks and seven "screamo" back up vocals in the third verse. I think it holds together better without the repeats and the third verse gets nice and huge. Karyn still wants to sing on it. I also removed the saw tracks. Those weren't working for me.
Update:February28:New Mp3
Karyn sang on Time Of Dying two nights ago, and here it is. I think it's mostly cool. She drops out during the second verse, and I don't know if that's wierd.
